Spoonful is an in situ light sculpture commissioned by Amsterdam Light Festival. Shaped like a spoon gently dipping into the water, it transforms the canal into a comforting bowl of soup for visitors to share.

A ‘spoonful’ of the the city

This six-metre-long spoon, outlined by glowing contours, playfully shifts the scale of the scene, turning the canal into a giant soup.

Spoonful invites everyone to enjoy a ‘spoonful’ of the city’s radiant night-time atmosphere.

Spoonful celebrates gathering together for a meal, cherishing the simple rituals that shape and enrich our days.

A universal ritual

Drawing on the ritual of sharing a meal, the light sculpture embodies the spirit of togetherness, creating a space for celebration and warmth. It invites the whole city for dinner in the heart of Amsterdam.
